Santa Cruz

A 4:30 AM start to the day. I do not like to go into a new location in the dark and we knew it would be 13 hours or so. We pulled out in the dark and slipped under the bridge into the open ocean. It was a perfect calm day once we got away from land.

The sea came alive in the afternoon. We were a bit closer to shore than we normally cruise and the sea lions and whales were busy at the buffet.

The Sea Lions were hunting in a pack of hundreds.

The humpback whales were everywhere. We were tracking a dozen at a time. The birds were everywhere as well. It made the cruise go fast having so much to look at.

We arrived around 5:00 PM after checking into our dock and went up for a drink at a local pub. Live music and a street art fair was fun to walk through. We got home and I was tired so I went to bed early.

The next day we walked to the boardwalk, pier and lighthouse. It was awesome. Like the city never left the 70's or 80's. I loved the boardwalk.

An old wood roller coaster and the traditional carnival games and shops. This is a picture from the pier.

I was even lucky enough to make a new friend.

A pretty fun day all in all.
