Idle and Busy weekend

Thursday evening we moved to Friday Harbor to have happy hour with friends. A very nice evening. The real reason for going to Friday Harbor was to be there for the arrival of my daughters. Becca by Kenmore Air and Kaitlyn by Ferry. We shopped for food on Friday to prepare a nice meal for them. Friday evening we were tired from preparations we just went to the Downriggers for dinner. When in port we need to take on water, do laundry and take out the trash.

The technical data is at the end with a couple of other moves.

Becca arrived first and we took the boat over to Parks bay on Shaw island. We chose this destination because it was very close to Friday but still a nice boat ride. Kaitlyn and Josh were delayed as the ferry was cancelled so I picked them up later in the dinghy and zipped them across quickly. Perhaps a bit too quickly as it was windy and pretty rough in Harney Channel. We had a bit of kayaking and dinghying.

This is Becca and her friend Daniel paddling. I apparently lost half of the blue paddle so Becca was kind of up Schitts Creek.

After Kaitlyn arrived we needed a second to recover from the dinghy ride across Harney Channel, so we had a drink. Here is Kaitlyn with here ever growing baby bump.

So Beautiful!

After that a nice veggie pot pie for dinner with a carrot, cranberry, apple salad. The cranberries were soaked in Grand Mariner and that made them little flavor bombs. Tasty.

The pot pie was purple cabbage red onions, dill, cream cheese and cheddar cheese and was great.

We have an old family recipe of cream pear pie. That was not bad either.

It was such a quick trip but I really enjoyed seeing the girls. We took the boat back to Friday harbor but we stayed on the temporary dock until there respective times came to see them off.

We then opted to go and stay at victim island as staying in the marina seems less fun than being out in the wild.

So this morning we decided to go back to Sucia island in our last week in the San Juan Islands. We really did not have a chance to hike the island and have a good look around during our last visit. It was a relaxing day but Barb made pasta with pesto and broiled Italian tomato salad. We got the idea for the salad from the Freedom YouTube channel. It was pretty good. (thank you Elizabeth)
