Holding Pattern

Updated: Jul 24, 2021

Moved to Icy Straits, which is right next to the entrance to Glacier Bay, in hopes to get my permit to enter the bay moved forward by a day or two. I was unable to accomplish that so I am going to be in a holding pattern until my pre-arranged permit allows me to enter on the 18th. We will likely head up Excursion inlet and stay in a nearby protected anchorage until then. We are currently anchored behind pleasant Island and there seems to be a large population of sea otters.

There are literally hundreds of them swimming around and looking very playful. We make sure to keep our deck doors closed so we don't have an unfortunate close encounter as I have heard they like to look on boats for food and warm places. It appears that the otters are not best friends with the orca whales!

I have some feedback that the food and menu pictures are missed. Here is our celebration of Jeff and Norma's anniversary last night. We ate tortellini stuffed with three cheese and pesto, bean patties with sprouts and lemon cashew cream and marinated tomatoes on spinach.

For desert we had a blackberry lemon tart that was most excellent.

It was a short trip over yesterday but here are the stats.
