Ell Cove

Oh My God! What a recommendation this was!

This is a small bay that turns on an angle at the end. (sort of like an "L"") Outside the cove is waterfall bay -- not well protected but an awesome view.

OK, first off, it was a bit rougher that we have seen. It was not bad, but not calm as glass. Here is a view:

The chop was worth it, as we entered the cove this is the sight we saw. OK -- to be fair, this picture was taken the day after on the way out because Sudden Inspiration was posed in this picture, but we still saw this spectacular sight on the way in.

As we entered the bay we turned and found a perfectly protected secluded bay.

We took the dinghy out to look at the waterfall and the fishery and we were sure that there would be a bear wandering around on the beach the next morning as the grassy area went right to the water. No so much luck. No bears for coffee the next morning.

We did find a hungry friend thinking about fishing.

I could not resist having Matt take a picture of CODA in the waterfall as well.

I just love this shot.

This is a very cool post. We've been in the cove it is a really special place that doesn't seem to get much traffic. Baranof Warm Springs next? Don't miss it!

You didn’t go to the hatchery? There were TONS of bears there. :)
