Acapulco

A long 30 hours later we pulled into Acapulco. We arrived a bit earlier than expected and it was still dark entering the harbor. We slowed down and pulled on to a mooring ball in Bahia Santa Lucia. This was a calm area, well protected in the older part of town. After the obligatory nap we launched the dinghy and took a look around. Barb and Matt went to the Walmart to get cold drinks and sun block. We then ventured out.

We headed over to fantasy island. This is an island just behind the bay we were in and it was so packed with people we did not even go ashore.

Across the channel was another beach...

Just as packed. Apparently Acapulco is a destination spot for the wealthy out of Mexico City. We continued the tour by dinghy and saw the hotels and beached on the new side of the city. It was beautiful but the breakers on the beach prevented us from going ashore. We returned to Coda and our mooring lord (sort of landlord) came by in his ponga and brought us a huge bucket of tree ripe mangos. Barb squealed in excitement and Vincente was now our friend forever.

Barb made good use of the most ripe ones making us watermelon mango margaritas. That really hit the spot.

I think perhaps I spent too much time touring in the dinghy.

After more cooling down by swimming we hit the sack early knowing that it would be another long travel day.

A beautiful moonrise in Acapulco though.

The next morning, off to get fuel in a very awkward dock and then off to Huatulco. I Never did a med-tie in surging water at a fuel dock -- but hey, we got 2000 liters so time to go.

On to another 32 hours of cruising.
