A beautiful day in the fjords

After leaving Bella Bella there was a quick and reasonably calm trip through the ocean and then we headed back up through Klemtu passage. This was a very beautiful part of the trip. We were headed for the Grenville passage but we took it a bit slower and stopped in Khutze inlet for the night. It was a difficult place to anchor as the inlet has very steep walls and the depth is generally 500 ft. The guidebook said go behind the sandbar and anchor but I found it to be mostly rock bottom and getting the anchor to hook was difficult. This always mean a restless night fearing the dreaded anchor drag.

The trip was just awesome as we were travelling down fjords with steep walls and waterfalls.

I could post 100 similar pictures but they just wont convey the beauty of this part of the trip.

Khutze had quite a bit of current as the tides moved in and out of the inlet but the shallow area we anchored appeared to protect us a bit. We survived the evening and left first thing to hit the tides properly through the Grenville channel.

And the techie stuff again.
