We left the paradise of Isla Isabel at 6:30 and took the short cruise to San Blas. We had heard of a jungle cruise and nice mission in the center of the city that we wanted to explore.
We arrived at the marina a bit after noon but it was full and there was no space for us. We decided to moor in the estuary outside of the traffic lane and go into town by dinghy. We launched the dinghy and went up river a bit and then went back, beached the dinghy and walked the town a bit.
We took a taxi to the center of town to check into the jungle cruise and found we did not need a reservation. We had a nice dinner and headed back to the boat. The town was nice, but we decided to move out to Bahia Matanchen because the estuary was dirty and buggy.
Mantanchen was a beautiful large bay with white sand beaches and palapas all up and down the beach. We had watched you tube videos on the Jungle tour the prior evening and we were not that impressed, but we decided to take the dinghy up the river and check it out on our own. That was a fail as the breakers into the bar were far too large and uncharted. We had no idea what the depth would be once through the breakers so we bailed on that idea and went to the beach.
The beach was nice. Tried the local fare and relaxed in the sun and sea.
We retired early that evening knowing that we would be off to Puerto Vallarta early the next morning.
