What a gorgeous day is was! Sunny, calm and beautiful. A perfect day for breakfast visitors and a small hike.
Still in Reid Harbor and I get a text from Kevin and Bonnie. They were looking for a good bakery. I honestly told them that the best bakery in the San Juan's is right here on CODA. The motored right over for Cinnamon rolls and coffee. Nice visit! It is good to have some familiar faces after being out on the water for weeks.
I presume I don't have to send another pictures of cinnamon rolls. I think you all know what that looks like.
Kevin and Bonnie had a date to keep so they wandered off and we decided to hike up to the Turn Point Lighthouse. I have done this hike before and I remember it as being a pretty tough one but well worth the views. It was an incredible day for it and we embarked on the journey.
Here is a picture of the lighthouse and turn point. It was beautiful. Here is another of Mount Baker above Prevost Harbor. It turned out to be just over 7 miles of walking -- some of it pretty steep so we were pretty bushed by the time we returned.
We ran into a couple of strangers, Rob and Kelly, on the trail and chatted a bit. They have a Ranger Tug and were in the harbor next to us. On our way back to the boat we stopped by and chatted some more and we ended up getting together for drinks. They brought over their flute and baritone ukulele and Barb got out the harp and I even pulled out the guitar and a fine time was had by all. We all sounded pretty horrible but after a few Capt. Steve Manhattans -- it just did not matter. Barb, of course made some lovely hors d'oeuvres and we all had a blast.
You'll forgive me for not writing the blog las night but now you understand after miles of hiking and music and a few beverages, it was not going to happen.
We skipped the dinner due to lack of interest -- or motivation.
No Boat travel today -- no data. One last thing -- it is a beautiful morning -- Coffee on the aft deck! I think we will go look into Deer Harbor. ...Later.
Thanks for the wonderful hospitality, cinnamon rolls and company! We ate more than we should have, but it was so darn good and you only live once! Thanks again.
Seeing Mt Baker from any vantage is magical, for sure. Maybe it's my favorite because it's the first mountain I've ever climbed, but I love it! Great Picture!
