At 5:00AM sharp we were out of Los Cabos and headed to La Paz. There was some wind predicted for the afternoon and it was a long drive over. We were hoping to arrive by sunset.
We got out in the wind and decided that it was a bit rough. We went 5 hours to Bahia Frailes. It is a nature preserve but we were able to anchor in a reasonably protected cove just outside the preserve. We had a relaxing day.
Beautiful sunset and a good rest and we were off the next day towards La Paz again.
The weather was calm, and the seas were flat, and we moved quickly around the tip of the peninsula towards the channel between Espiritu Santo island and the entrance to La Paz. As we entered the AIS popped up an alert that the vessel Ticket to Ride was close by, so we diverted to Bahia Bonanza to say hello.
Yes -- the same Ticket to Ride we ran into in Alaska, San Francisco, San Diego and now Mexico. Crazy. Frank and Mary Grace invited us aboard for drinks and dinner and we had a wonderful time. It was late when we got back to Coda and the wind had whipped up. It was a bit late, dark and rough to raise the dinghy, so we tied it with two lines and tried to go to bed. It was a rough night. Bahia Bonanza was not well protected from the north wind, and it really howled that night.
Matt was up in the night cleaning up broken dishes that fell from the cupboards and neither of us got much sleep. Matt was up checking things at 5:00 AM and all was OK, I checked the dinghy at 6:00 AM and discovered the dinghy was gone.
This is all we found from the dinghy.
The main line from the dinghy was gone so I assume that it jerked so hard and long it pulled off the cleat.
