We had two days prior to meeting back with Matt and Tonia at Swanson Harbor but we decided to just go back immediately after leaving Glacier Bay. We both felt that an opportunity to do laundry and sleep late would be good.
This is what we did there:
1.
2.
3.
Yup -- kinda nothing.
Swanson has a public dock that is free but no power or water. It is nice to have a couple of days without an anchor alarm enabled. I sleep with both eyes closed as I have no worries about dragging anchor.
Matt and Tonia arrived and we had a grand happy hour and a nice dinner (although I don't remember what it was) and we prepared to head off to Sitka the following morning. Sitka was over 100 NM from Swanson Harbor so we decided to take it in 3-4 days of travel. We failed. The first night we settled in a beautiful secluded anchorage called Hanus Bay right behind Dead Tree Island. The names do not really reflect the beauty of the place. Perhaps a picture will be better.
We pushed it a bit to seven hours travel time. (half way to Sitka)
